In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder and chief prelate, Most Venerable Modarawane Sudhamma Thero, on 02 February 2025. Established in 1997 under the visionary leadership of Most Venerable Modarawane Sudhamma Thero, the Welfare Development Centre was established with the noble mission of empowering rural youth, underprivileged children and communities with limited access to education and employment opportunities. Modarawane Sudhamma Thero’s unwavering dedication, compassionate service and commitment to social betterment laid the strong foundation that our institution stands on today. The guidance and principles instilled by Modarawane Sudhamma Thero remain at the heart of our mission and operations. While the passing of Venerable Modarawane Sudhamma Thero is an immense loss to our institution and the wider community, we remain steadfast in our commitment to carry forward the vision of Venerable Modarawane Sudhamma Thero and serve society in the spirit of Venerable Modarawane Sudhamma Thero. We respectfully pray for his eternal peace.
